A Beautiful Night

I listen to leaves rustling in the gentle breeze.
Stars are poised in the sky, sparkling to please.
Like a silver coin, the moon shines down…
Beaming softly over the sleeping town.
Hungry bats fly out to have their nightly feed.
An insect banquet awaits to satisfy their need.
Crickets chirp out their symphony in unison…
Romantically calling for their lovers to come.
Night blankets me with velvety darkness, my love…
While I whisper your sweet name to the heavens above.

Dying Light

You burned so brightly…
That your flame went out too soon.
Your future looked so fine…
Then, it burst like a balloon.
Young and talented…
With so much life ahead of you.
Everyone awaited…
All the great things you would do.
But, like a star falling from the sky…
In a sudden blaze of light,
You faded too quickly…
Swallowed up by the night.

My Blessing

You tell me things will be alright…
As we’re talking late at night.
You reassure my troubled heart…
When I think it might break apart.
You say the bright dawn of a new day,
Will sweep these somber clouds away…
That fill my weary head with fright,
And block out any ray of light.
You help me hold onto my hope,
When it’s a slippery bar of soap…
That nearly slides out of my grip,
From my hand to my fingertips.
You’re a sweet blessing to me…
A blessing I never thought I’d see.
Without you, I’d be in deep distress…
And my life would be a mess.

Don’t Give Up On Us

You say that you gave up on love,
So many years ago…
That you don’t care about it now.
You’ve lived your life without love, somehow.
I’d given up on it as well,
And thought I’d never know…
The feelings that I feel for you.
I really don’t know what to do.
When your heart hesitates…
There’s nowhere that our love can go.
Can’t you see you’re like the sun to me…
You give me life with your radiancy.
Without you, darkness will devour me…
I’ll wilt and die instead of grow.
Please don’t take away your light,
And leave me in an endless night.

Irreplaceable

Without you, what would I do?
You always make my morning bright,
And each day,  pleasant to pass…
Sweetening my dreams at night.

When I’m feeling sad and gloomy…
Ready to abandon any hope,
You cheerily say the right words to me…
Uplift and encourage my heart to cope.

Your love is rare and irreplaceable.
If I lost you, darkness would destroy me…
Shattered to shards, I may as well be…
Tossed on a trash heap as debris.
